Increasing number of human flu attested in Moldova
Municipal Emergency Service registered 30 cases of influenza, for the last day, including 26 children cases, and 157 cases of serious respiratory infections.
The head of Respiratory Infections Laboratory of the National Preventive Medicine Scientific-Practical Center, Petru Scoferta, reported that at the moment an increasing number of human A-type flu is attested, caused by the H1N1 virus. He noted that this is exceptional for this period of the year.
Petru Scoferta mentioned that, in January and February, there were registered 106 flu cases in Moldova, and in the second half of March and beginning of April there were reported about 1,500 cases, the majority of them in the capital and in Criuleni, Telenesti, Falesti and Ialoveni republican districts. During the last week, there were registered 93 flu cases in Chisinau. He underlined for that last 14 years there was no case of activating flu virus in April. Usually, the biggest number of flu cases in Moldova is noted in February, while this year in February only 61 cases were registered, Petru Scoferta said.
The head of Respiratory Infections Laboratory of CNSPMP couldn’t assume the responsibility in making forecasts regarding disease evolution, announcing, „Only the H1N1 virus could know this”.
