Increased opportunities in Republic of Moldova for developing bio-fuels branch
During a meeting between Vasile Tarlev and a group of German investors, the general manager of Bio Company Raps, Karl Walter Berkes, declared that there are increased opportunities in the Republic of Moldova for developing the bio-fuels branch.
The German company is already building in Lipcani, Briceni a plant for producing rape oil, used in the industry of bio-fuels. The plant will be opened until the end of 2006. Meanwhile, the company will invest in rape growing in order to increase the quality of the sorts and to mechanize the process of harvesting.
Tarlev confirmed the position of the Government regarding the creation of attractive conditions for investors and expressed his availability to accomplish common investment projects. The prime-minister underlined the importance of increasing alternative energetic resources consumption in order to increase the energetic security of the country, as well as to protect the environment. In this context, Tarlev mentioned that in the Republic of Moldova test projects for obtaining alternative energetic resources have already been launched, including the production of bio-ethanol, bio-gas and others.
In July the prime minister declared that he supports the plans of the companies importing petrol to import bio-diesel and he mentioned that the responsible structures should undertake urgent steps of adjusting the legal framework in this field.
Pure bio-diesel (BD100) is a fuel obtained from animal or vegetal fats, being bio-degradable and non-toxic. Unlike fuels based on petrol, bio-diesel burns at 150˚ C assuring the cars that use it an increased level of security especially in case of accidents. This fuel is the first candidate to replace the fuels used as primary energy source for transport.
