In the first trimester of 2006, the incomes from providing fix telephony services amounted to 471,8 million lei, by 96,6 million lei more than selling, in the same period, mobile telephony services, according to the report of the National Agency for Telecommunications and Information Regulation (ANRTI). On the first position in the chart of incomes gained by fix telephony operators are placed international call services – 44.57%, second place, with a 15.91% quota, is for calls directed to GSM mobile networks, and the third place, with 9.81% - local calls made over the limits given to subscribers. In the same period, average monthly income per subscriber (ARPU) of the fix telephony operators was at the level of 2005, of 175.2 lei. This quota is by 53% over the average income gained, in the same period, by mobile telephony operators. Concomitantly, investments made in fix telephony increased over 2 times, compared to the same period of 2004, and got to the level of 62,4 million lei. This indicator is by 20,7 million lei lower than the one registered, within this period, by mobile phone operators. The number of subscribers of fix telephony increased by 8,000 and got to 937,400, of them 31,300 were connected to the network through radio access local loop (WLL) according to the technology CDMA2000 (450MHz) by SA “Moldtelecom”. As result, the access rate of this type of telephony, per 100 inhabitants, increased to 27.71 %, indicator lower by 5.79% than the penetration level of mobile telephony. The main operator of fix telephony is SA “Moldtelecom”, having, in the first trimester of 2006, a share of 99.42% of the total of subscribers, and 99.15% of this type of market. The rest was up to alternative operator IS „Calea ferata a Moldovei”, societities „Riscom”, “Arax-Impex” and “Sicres”. Since the beginning of 2006, there were registered at ANRTI 28 license owners authorized to provide local public fix telephony services, of them only 5 operators provided such services.
