The Central Election Commission (CEC) Friday made public the results of the examination of the electoral rolls in electronic format submitted by the local public authorities. The identity data of 239 425 of the 2 646 279 voters written in the lists were inaccurate. CEC president Iurie Ciocan was quoted by Info-Prim Neo as saying that the identified irregularities include the absence of information about the series and number of the identity card, the absence of the voter’s name or surname, or even the absence of the year of birth. Moreover, the central electoral authority found in the lists 104 persons who, according to the data, are born between 1900 and 1909. “These persons may be included in the Guinness World Records for long life. If these data are confirmed, we will congratulate these persons and wish them longevity, but we presume that there were made mistakes,” said Iurie Ciocan. He also said that the authorities that provided the inaccurate lists were asked to remove all the shortcomings as soon as possible. In the same meeting, the CEC approved the composition of the district electoral councils. From next Tuesday, the persons who intend to run for seats on the district and municipal councils and for mayor can file the documents to be registered as candidates.
