In 2008 Moldova could pay $190/m3 of natural gas
Preliminary calculations show that Moldova will pay Gazprom about USD 190 per 1000 cubic meters of natural gas. The statement was made Monday by Anatolii Podmyshalskii, representative of Gazprom, at a press conference in Chisinau, organised at the end of the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Gazprom representative stated that the price of gas will be the same for the consumers on both sides of the Nistru. At present, Gazprom delivers natural gas to Moldova at the price of USD 170 per cu m.
Prime Deputy Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai asserts that the agreement signed between Moldova-Gaz and Gazprom at the end of the last year stipulates that Moldova will pay in 2008, 75% of the average price for European consumers. According to Zinaida Greceanai at the moment when the agreement was signed by Moldova, the average European price was of USD 240.
Within the frameworks of the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the parties discussed the necessity of the differentiation of consumers’ debts from the two banks of the Nistru River, because Transnistria continues to accumulate debts for Gazprom, Greceanai added.
