There is over a year until the next parliamentary elections. That’s why the MPs of the majority parliamentary group will make every effort and pay maximum attention to the grievances of the voters that wait for determined steps that will improve their lives, the leader of the Communist Party’s faction Eugenia Ostapciuc said in her speech delivered at the last meeting of the autumn-winter session, Info-Prim Neo reports. She said that a key task in 2008 was to preserve and develop the social orientation of the economic policy and to improve the living standards of the people. All the resources have been mobilised to achieve this objective. Other possibilities have been employed to make sure that this course goes on. The insurance of an efficient political stability in the country was the focus of the parliamentarians’ attention. A number of legislative documents were adopted for the purpose, including the law on political parties and the modification of the Electoral Code, Ostapciuc said. The autumn-winter session was a period of hard work that produced many good results, mainly due to the cooperation between the branches of power, first of all because the actions were coordinated with the country’s president, Eugenia Ostapciuc said. Unfortunately, some of the opponents of the Communist Party have already started the campaign for the parliamentary elections of 2009, fact proven by their permanent attacks on the ruling party and the majority faction, the recent blockades of the Parliament’s rostrum, the organisation of protests in the street and other acts. According to Eugenia Ostapciuc, PCRM has enough experience of taking part in elections and will not give in to such dirty methods. It can anticipate scenarios and events typical of the election campaigns, which the political opponents have repeatedly tried to put into practice in order to remove the Communists from power. The parliamentary group of PCRM aims to ensure the country’s stability and democratic development, to improve the activity of the democratic institutions, to stimulate the social-political forces in compliance with the law. Therefore, PCRM wants the next election campaign to be conducted in a fair and democratic way, by not admitting riggings and violations, Eugenia Ostapciuc said.
