The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will support the improvement of farmers' access to information and expertise in the Republic of Moldova. FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture have signed an agreement to implement a project aimed at strengthening agricultural development and advisory services, IPN reports.
The project will focus on enhancing the delivery of information and assistance to farmers, strengthening local organizations known as "Agricultural Chambers" to better address farmers' needs and provide relevant consultancy.
"This project represents an important step toward developing a stronger and more sustainable agricultural sector in the Republic of Moldova," stated Raimund Jehle, FAO representative in Moldova.
"Farmers are eagerly awaiting this reform and increasingly ask when the Agricultural Chambers will be established, as they are already aware of the importance of training and consultancy for the development of their activities," emphasized Minister of Agriculture, Ludmila Catlabuga.
The project will bring together various organizations and experts to diversify the range of available services and will encourage farmers to actively contribute to shaping the support they receive. Additionally, it will strengthen regional agricultural organizations to ensure that services are tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each region in the country.
The initiative will be implemented until December 2027, with a budget of $250,000.
