Important officials expected to Chisinau
The president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Lluís Maria de Puig, will officially visit Moldova from July 6 to 9, the Parliament's press unit is quoted by Info-Prim Neo as announcing. The top European official will meet with President Vladimir Voronin, speaker Marian Lupu and with Prime-Minister Zinaida Grecianai.
His agenda includes meetings with vice president of the Parliament Maria Postoico, the head of the Moldovan parliamentary deputation to the PACE, with leaders of parliamentary factions, with Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan and with Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca.
The PACE president will also have meetings with the ambassadors of the EU countries to Moldova, with NGO representatives and will visit the Protection and Assistance Center of the Mother and Child Center.
Lluís Maria de PUIG will utter a speech in the Parliament on July 9.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs and European Integration, Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu is expected to Chisinau on July 7, invited by the Moldovan side. The Foreign Ministers will broach current issues related to the relationships of Romania and Moldova, and other aspects of mutual interests.
Lazar Comanescu will also meet the Moldovan President, Speaker and Premier and the Economy and Trade Minister, Igor Dodon.
The last visit of a Romanian official to Moldova was scheduled for June 22, 2008. It was the leader of the Social-Democratic Party, Mircea Geoana, who expected in Chisinau in his capacity of a chairman of the external policy committee of the Romanian senate. Yet, the Moldovan officials who had invited him, canceled the visit two days before.
