The IMF mission came to Chisinau only to impose conditions for unlocking financing. The issue was discussed in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“We are on the list of suspects. The IMF experts discussed only conditions with the Government of Moldova. The appointment of the National Bank governor is the main condition. We saw the list of candidates for this post and it inspires confidence. I’m optimistic that we will have an appropriate candidate after Andrian Candu promised that those who have connection with parties, including the Democratic Party, will not be promoted. The second condition refers to the macroeconomic situation. It was also demanded that the bank frauds should be investigated. I think there were also other conditions, which are not known,” said political analyst Igor Munteanu, Moldova’s former ambassador to the U.S.
Journalist Vasile Botnaru considers the Moldovan authorities tried to use the visit by the IMF Mission to calm things down. “Besides calming slightly things down, the Filip Government obtained nothing more from the IMF experts. These imposed harsh conditions for unblocking financing. A former minister of finance of ours said it clearly that these cannot be convinced until all the requirements are met,” he stated.
