Ilarion Popa to be discharged
Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar to submit a draft decision on the dismissal of Deputy Minister of Economy Ilarion Popa in the next meeting of the Cabinet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Ilarion Popa coordinates energy-related matters. The Premier accuses him of the delayed signing of the contracts for the supply of Moldova with electricity.
Vlad Filat said the negotiations and the achieved results put the Government in difficulty and alarmed the whole society. He asked that all the contracts for the supply of power be negotiated three months before the expiration of the previous contacts so that money could be budgeted for the payment of the electricity used by state institutions and of allowances to socially deprived groups of people. The Ministry of Economy is to present amendments to the legislation concerning the obligations of the power distributors.
In another development, the Prime Minister said that the Government this month is to present the progress report in Parliament. He asked the ministers to provide updated information about the areas of which they are in charge.
