Ilan Șor remained without parliamentary immunity. The MPs accepted all the nine requests made by acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu, by one for each count. The parliamentary immunity was lifted by the votes of the PAS and BCS MPs, IPN reports.
Dumitru Robu said there is evidence that Ilan Șor didn’t declare the real property owned by him and his family. In 2016-2019, in his property and personal interests statement, he didn’t present information about the real estate owned by his wife, including the sales and purchase agreements concluded in Russian and the owned bank accounts.
He is also accused of creating in 2012 and of managing a criminal organization with the aim of robbing the banking system of Moldova so as to finance his economic activities in Moldova and abroad, of maintaining the criminal group and of financing its illegal activities and the criminal organization led by Vladimir Plahotniuc and other persons.
Ilan Șor is charged with large-scale money laundering committed by an organized criminal group. This case was connected to the bank fraud case.
The MP is also suspected of swindle. In the second half of 2014, the members of the criminal organization led by Vladimir Plahotniuc and other persons decided to redistribute inside it the properties owned by different criminal groups operating on Moldova’s territory. This way, the group led by Veaceslav Platon was to sell a part of its property, including the shares owned in Victoriabank”. Money stolen from Banca de Economii following lending to companies created by the criminal group led by Ilan Șor was to be used to perform the transaction.
”All the three organized criminal groups – the one led by Vladimir Plahotniuc, the one managed by Veaceslav Platon and the one headed by Șor – acted together in the commission of the offenses,” stated Dumitru Robu.
As to the fact that Ilan Șor is a citizen of Israel, where he is allegedly at the moment, Dumitru Robu said Israel extradites its citizens and they will take all the measures for Șor to be extradited to Moldova to bear responsibility for his deeds.
In his speech, BCS MP Vasile Bolea said he wants justice to be done in this country and each person who took part in the bank fraud and in the concession of the airport should be held accountable.
Ilan Șor, who disappeared from the public sphere in June 2019, said that this is a show staged by President Maia Sandu. Ilan Șor was also stripped of parliamentary immunity in August 2019.
