Ilan Shor's former bodyguard will stand trial. The man is accused of illegal party financing. The amount used in the illegal activity is about 5.2 million lei, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office said, quoted by IPN.
According to the police, between February and March last year, the defendant intended to contribute to the illegal financing of the political party "Chance". The individual transmitted, through a man, particular sums of money.
The defendant was detained when he intended to transmit an amount of 613,500 lei to the intermediary in an apartment in Chisinau.
During searches, approximately 4.6 million lei was discovered in the apartment. The money was ready to be packed in envelopes with the inscription "From the bottom of my heart! With great respect, Ilan Shor" and was to be distributed to people who provided services in the interest of the "Chance" party.
The man did not admit his guilt. For his deed, he risks a fine of almost 70,000 lei or from 3 to 6 years in prison.
