Ilan Shor reacted to the request of prosecutors to strip him of parliamentary privilege by saying this was a “show staged” by President Maia Sandu to divert public attention from pressing issues.
“What was the purpose of this show enacted in Parliament? First, Maia Sandu couldn’t handle her rage at our announcement that we are going to impeach her. Second, because she knows that not everybody in her party agrees with what she does and what happens today in Moldova”, declared the fugitive politician.
“It was funny to see Marina Tauber demanding gas compensations for people in Parliament, while Speaker Igor Grosu was proposing nine times to strip me of immunity. One must be an idiot to believe such a show. We’re not going to take it. People have been driven to the brink of survival. Don’t provoke people to defend their rights in the street”, declared Shor.
Prosecutors have requested that Shor be stripped of immunity from prosecutors on nine separate charges. All nine requests have been forwarded to Parliament’s Legal Committee for consideration, after which the matter will be put to a secret vote.
