Igor Grosu: We will have a Government by end-July

By the end of July, we will have an invested Government that would swiftly start the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the World Bank so as to unlock the external financial assistance, said the leader of the PAS Igor Grosu. According to him, PAS agreed the approximate makeup of the new Executive, but the composition of the governmental team will depend on the fact whether the party obtains a majority in the July 11 elections or not, IPN reports.

The acting president of PAS said a new Government will be invested immediately after the snap parliamentary elections as Moldova cannot now hold interminable negotiations. The new Executive will have to speedily negotiate the agreements with international financial organizations and to draft the budget for 2022. He and Natalia Gavrilița are being considered as candidates for premiership.

“Given the experience of this winter, when two candidates were nominated for Prime Minister, we already have at least two names. The decision will be yet taken after the elections. We will have to act swiftly so that the budget is approved and we enter winter with the state budget law adopted. We will have to adopt the pension increases we promise so that the new raises take effect by October 1,” Igor Grosu stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

He denied opponents’ accusations that Maia Sandu promotes the image of PAS during her visits to Moldova’s districts and abroad. The PAS leader noted President Sandu does not break the law and does not become involved in the election campaign.

“President Sandu is an active person and, given her foreign policy responsibilities, she is invited to other countries to represent us and she does it very well. Furthermore, the President has the right to meet with the citizens. No one will find any evidence of the President calling on the people to vote for a political party,” stated Igor Grosu.

He noted that if PAS does not gain an absolute majority in the future Parliament, the party will form an alliance with pro-European parties or with parties that will subscribe to the government program of the Party of Action and Solidarity.
