Today marks 1,000 days since the beginning of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu said that it is a period during which Ukraine has fought heroically every day. During these 1,000 days, the neighboring country has stood tall in front of the aggressor, Igor Grosu stressed at the Moldova Security Forum held in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The Speaker said that without the courage of Ukrainians and friends from all over the world, Moldova would not resist. "I hope and believe that Ukraine will win. The Ukrainian people deserve and must be winners," stated Igor Grosu.
Present at the forum, the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova Jānis Mažeiks noted the heroism of the Ukrainian people on the battlefield and added that Ukraine's security represents the security of the region and Europe. "The war in Ukraine has shown that imperialist tendencies are on the rise and pose threats to democracy," said the European diplomat.
"We are now in a conjuncture of challenges. Russia attacked critical infrastructure in Ukraine and created a very difficult situation in the neighboring country ahead of winter," said the executive director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms Iulian Groza. He that this attack, which has been going on for 1,000 days, confirms the need to support Ukraine and build regional resilience.
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
