Independent candidate for President who is supported by the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon is rather optimistic about the election results. “Our measurements and internal calculations show that we are leading at a rather big distance inside the country, without the vote of the diaspora and the Transnistrians. That’s why we will wait for all the votes to be counted and will then make other statements,” IPN quoted the candidate as saying in a press briefing, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon noted that when he entered the current presidential race, as in 2016, he was ready for any scenario – either winning or losing – and he considers the same is true about his opponent.

Igor Dodon also said that there was a lot of hatred and the “red lines” were crossed in the current election campaign, but this is over. He called on the people to be calm “as we need peace in Moldova and don’t need destabilization.”

According to him, as of tomorrow, no matter who gains the largest number of votes, what is important is to adopt the state budget and fiscal policy. “A new stage starts tomorrow in the development of the Republic of Moldova. I’m ready to have a dialogue with absolutely everyone from Parliament, with responsible parties, so as to take a decision as to how we should move on,” stated Igor Dodon, promising he will come with statements about “serious changes” the next few days.
