Communist MP Igor Dodon, who is running for the mayoralty of Chisinau, uses the former car of ex-Minister of the Interior Valentin Zubic - a Toyota Land Cruiser of 2003, the Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said in the debates “I want to be a mayor”, held on ProTV Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca enumerated relatives and friends of Igor Dodon who own property worth millions of lei. “His brother Alexandru Dodon in 2010 bought a jeep of €30,000 while heading a division at the Ministry of Agriculture. He issued authorizations for meat and fish sales,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He also said that a relative of Igor Dodon, Olga Dodon, at the age of only 29 owns five luxury cars, including a Mercedes worth €225,000, a jeep of €100,000 of 2008, and a Porsche. “How can a young woman own a house worth €4 million lei? She bought the house from Anatol Covali, former director of Oleg Voronin’s company Metal Market. She works as an architect for Moldconstruct Market – the company that acquired 4 hectares of land situated on Ciocarlia St at very low prices,” said Dorin Chirtoaca, continuing with other examples. He also said that Igor Dodon bought a Skoda-Superb for €20,000 for the election campaign. Igor Dodon replied that the accusations made by Dorin Chirtoaca are groundless. “Dorin Chirtoaca could photograph all the cars in Chisinau and say that they belong to me. I do not want to justify, but if at least 5% of what Dorin Chirtoaca is true, where are the legal cases against the former minister of economy? You have governed the country for two years and took no legal action,” said Igor Dodon. The PCRM’s candidate also said that in fact it is Dorin Chirtoaca’s brother Lucian Chirtoaca who is involved in illegal businesses and named the companies Tahex Lux and Aldora Art. Dorin Chirtoaca denied the accusations.
