President Igor Dodon, in a special edition on NTV Moldova channel on June 4, said the National Council of the Party of Socialists, which is to take a decision as to the Democratic Party’s proposal to form a coalition, could take place in the evening of June 6 or on June 7, IPN reports.
“June 7 is the deadline. I hope I will manage to return from the St. Petersburg Economic Forum and we will take an assumed team decision,” stated President Dodon.
He noted the initial stake of the Bloc ACUM was not to come to power, but to remain in the opposition. ACUM was sure the Party of Socialists will form a coalition with the Democratic Party. The cooperation with ACUM remains an option, but the Socialists will never accept the conditions imposed by the Bloc.
As to the PDM’s proposal to form a coalition, Igor Dodon said this will be discussed by the National Council of the PSRM. “We are ready to discuss this proposal. Only the National Council can pronounce on this, but time is pressing us and I’m not sure that this issue will be appropriately discussed in the remaining period of time,” he stated.
As regards the Constitutional Court’s expected decision on the time limit after which the President can dissolve Parliament – June 9 or June 21 - Igor Dodon said he hopes the deadline will be June 21 and they will yet have time for discussions.
