The Communist Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau Igor Dodon calls upon all the political forces involved in the current campaign to show consolidation and correctness. In a news conference on Thursday, the MP said he will not ask his opponents to withdraw from the race and support him, but will appreciate if somebody leaves the race in order to facilitate the coming of a new mayor to the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I respect everyone’s right to compete and promote their messages till the end, regardless of their chances to win. I wish everyone to have an honorable campaign end. I hope the outcome of the elections will be decided in the first round on June 5. The Chisinau residents and the municipality in general will only benefit from this,” said Igor Dodon. The candidate stressed that it is not right to mix up the election campaign with an electoral war. “The election campaign means targeting the problems, not each other. The campaign should be aimed at building a common future, not at destroying what we have,” said Igor Dodon. He also said that the Communist Party’s team will not allow the elections to be fixed. “We know what they plan. The previous campaigns witnessed many attempts to rig the votes. During the last few days, we saw attempts aimed at causing provocations against me. My opponents who bank on frauds should be careful as we will not permit the rigging of votes, especially in suburbs, where different electoral parcels are being distributed,” said the MP. According to Igor Dodon, the post of mayor of Chisinau municipality is not a political one. Therefore, those who focused on politics during the last four years and this election campaign should abandon the shows and challenges at least during the last campaign days. In the ballot for the mayoral elections, Igor Dodon is under No. 5.
