Igor Dodon: It is hard to be President of everyone

President Igor Dodon admits that he didn’t manage to become the President of all the citizens, as he promised in the election campaign, and that the Russian army in Transnistria should be pulled out. The statements were made in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“It is very hard. To be the President of everyone, you should be mute and should not have your own position. I was informed that a parade of sexual minorities will be staged. I should support these people. Polls show an increasing number of citizens have confidence in the presidential institution, in the President,” stated Igor Dodon.

Asked about the Russian troops in Transnistria, Igor Dodon answered: “Most of the troops there are peacekeeping ones. When we settle the Transnistrian dispute, we will ask that these troops should be withdrawn. The Republic of Moldova is a neutral country and should not have foreign troops on its territory.”

President Dodon expressed his conviction that the Party of Socialists will hold a majority of seats in the future Parliament and light in the theft of the US$ 1 billion will be then shed. The investigation into the banking frauds stagnates. Therefore, the ruling political class should be changed and all those involved should be jailed.

Igor Dodon expressed his optimist about the success of the referendum for dismissing Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, saying his secretary Ion Ceban is the Socialists’ candidate for mayor instead of Chirtoaca. “Dorin Chirtoaca will be dismissed and there are two ways out: he will be jailed before he is dismissed or will be jailed after his dismissal,” said the President.
