President Igor Dodon is dissatisfied with the way some ministries work, the lack of coherent policies in the social and economic fields, the postponement or stopping of projects that benefitted the people, which, according to him, could have been readjusted and made more efficient. The statements were made by the head of state in a speech at the beginning of the Parliament's sitting, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon believes that the country must be governed based on a list of priorities that are more consistent and closer to people's expectations. He encouraged the representatives of the Government to go as often as possible throughout the country and to talk with the people.
Igor Dodon expressed his disagreement with some recent tax increases, but also some other fiscal measures that, according to him, were insufficiently analysed and generated confusion and dissatisfaction. "The way we try to shift the responsibility onto the IMF is not productive. I have personally been negotiating with the IMF for years and I maintain that this institution comes with proposals that are negotiated, then counter-proposals are made and a formula is reached to ensure fiscal balance, but also to avoid putting a burden on citizens and entrepreneurs, "said Igor Dodon.
The head of state has proposed to the parliamentary majority and the Government to work together to redefine the priority agenda, starting from the social agenda for the people, so that their work would start to produce positive effects as quickly as possible.
"We have promised citizens a better life, and to accomplish this we must have functional institutions and effective governance. We must overcome the euphoria of the first stage and keep both feet on the ground. We have to return to the current realities and do our best in managing them. And we should stop continuously referring to the problems that come from the past,” specified Igor Dodon.
According to the president, if in the next month the ministers do not prove that they can solve problems, the necessary changes should be made in order to bring more efficiency.
Igor Dodon came with a message to the PSRM and the ACUM Bloc, urging them to show maximum political maturity and wisdom in the election campaign, because "an electoral race isn’t more important than our national strategic goal of resetting and relaunching the Republic of Moldova based on democratic principles.”
