Igor Dodon: I will most probably not run in a single-member constituency

President Igor Dodon said that most probably he will not run in a single-member constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections, but could be included in the Party of Socialists’ list of candidates, IPN reports.

“Why? Because we won the elections in a common national constituency and it wouldn’t be right to run in a particular constituency now. We are considering the possibility of putting my name on the party list and I could run, but a decision to this effect will be announced later,” President Dodon stated in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

According to him, the Party of Socialists is the only party that has chances of winning a majority of seats in the next Parliament. If this does not happen, the Socialists could not form an alliance with the Democrats. They would try to come to terms with independent MPs, if there are such. “If a consensus is not reached, I think early parliamentary elections will take place in the second half of next year,” said Igor Dodon.
