President Igor Dodon said he will soon open discussions with the main political forces that entered Parliament so as to together find optimal solutions for the country in the current post-electoral conjuncture. At the same time, he reminded the political leaders that the national interest is above everything and they should abide by this desideratum, IPN reports.
In a posting on a social networking site, President Dodon wrote he will convoke the constitution meeting of the new legislature until March 25-26 and the legal procedures that will involve all the new MPs, whom he congratulated on the won seats, will thus start.
Igor Dodon noted that now that the Constitutional Court validated the results of the parliamentary elections, the parties should become involved in a dialogue in the most responsible way so as to decide the future government and the subsequent political fate of the country. “Either a majority coalition is formed of political parties that gained the people’s vote of confidence or we will have snap elections, the parties should very clearly argue their positions and should assume the consequences,” wrote President Dodon.
The Constitutional Court on March 9 validated the February 24 parliamentary elections after examining the relevant documents presented by the Central Election Commission, confirming the 101 MPs elected in the national constituency (50) and in single-member constituencies (51).
