Igor Dodon: I don’t trust polls much

“There are many polls and the opinions are different. I respect those who make them, but I don’t trust the polls much,” the Communist Party’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon said, commenting on the Public Opinion Barometer about the election runners’ chances of entering the Chisinau City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The last election campaigns showed that those who produce the Public Opinion Barometer and other sociologists often make mistakes. For us, it is important that we close this campaign in the same way that we started it – consistently and without challenges,” said Igor Dodon.
He expressed his confidence that most of the voters will choose the PCRM because there are many persons who are dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the capital city. “However, it is strange that 65% of the Chisinau residents say that they are not satisfied with the situation in Chisinau and that things go wrong, but do not want changes, according to the surveys,” said Igor Dodon.
The Public Opinion Barometer made public on May 30 shows that 39% of the people would vote for Dorin Chirtoaca, while 26% for Igor Dodon. As to the election of councilors in Chisinau, 20% of those questioned said they would vote for the PCRM, 18% – for the PLDM, 12% – for the PDM, while 9% for the PL. The turnout in Chisinau would be 82%.
Another poll made public by the Scientific Research Laboratory “Sociology of Politics” the same day says 45.8% of the voters in Chisinau municipality would vote for the Communist Party's candidate Igor Dodon. Current mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, the Liberal Party's candidate, would poll 43.1% of the vote. If the second round of voting took place, the results would be much the same and Igor Dodon would win the elections.
According to a survey presented by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers last week, Igor Dodon would gain 36.5% of the vote, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 38.6%.
