Igor Dodon: From today PAS has full power in state. It’s a kind of captured state

“Starting with today, the Party of Action and Solidarity has full power in the state – the presidential administration, the Government, Parliament and the Constitutional Court. It’s a kind of captured state, but from a different perspective,” said the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, who ran for MP on behalf of the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, IPN reports.

“This is democracy, when those who rule the country are replaced – a party moves to the opposition, while another party comes to power. That’s why we perceive this result as an ordinary norm of democracy. We do not see anything strange here as the people wanted this change and they obtained it. I want to congratulate those from PAS. I want to congratulate Missis President for the achieved result,” the Socialist leader told a news conference.

Igor Dodon said that together with the team, they will be in opposition - a professional, responsible opposition that will make sure that the government fulfills its electoral promises. “My colleagues are already drafting the relevant legislative proposals. In the morning, we had the meeting of our central staff. All the bills are ready. We will put them to the vote. The bills refer to the proposals made by Maia Sandu’s party in the current campaign and also to the commitments we made,” noted the politician.

Igor Dodon also said that they will penalize any abuse and any worsening of the quality of life, by all the existing democratic forms.

Asked if the Socialists will challenge the election results, the leader of PSRM said he discussed with the president of PCRM Vladimir Voronin by phone this morning and they will call a meeting in the near future. A decision will be taken after the Central Election Commission presents its report and after the data from the local level are made known.

As to an eventual joint parliamentary group with the Party of Communists, Igor Dodon said this aspect will be discussed and will be announced in the first sitting of Parliament, but PSRM will team up with PCRM in any situation.

The Party of Action and Solidarity won 63 seats of MP according to the preliminary election outcome, following the processing of 2,147 election reports. The Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists gained 32 seats, while the Shor Party – 6 seats.
