Igor Dodon: Bringing Plahotniuc home in handcuffs is a priority for us

“Bringing Plahotniuc home in handcuffs is a priority for us,” President Igor Dodon said when answering journalists’ questions about an eventual extradition of the former Democratic leader to Moldova, IPN reports.

President Dodon said at this stage he does not possess information showing that the Interpol headquarters in Lyon put Vladimir Plahotniuc on the list of wanted persons. There is yet confirmation that this list includes Ilan Shor and Constantin Țuțu. “We insist that the persons implicated in different wrongdoings in the Republic of Moldova during the past few years should be listed wanted by Interpol,” he stated.

He also said that an investigation is now being conducted into the double identity of Vladimir Plahotniuc. This was initiated by the Security and Intelligence Service and involves the Public Services Agency and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In another development, Igor Dodon said that he does not want to comment on the assertions of Viorel Morari, “who served the former regime”, that he ordered his arrest and will allow the competent bodies to do their job.

Asked by journalists about the situation of the lyceums “Orizont”, President Dodon said these are private lyceums and the state, the Government, does not become involved in the sale, purchase or transfer of these. “As far as I know, these lyceums were sold by the owners to a company based in Romania. The state will not get involved and cannot do this,” he stated.
