President-elect Igor Dodon will make his second official visit as President to Brussels. On a social networking site, Dodon wrote that he received congratulations on his election as Head of State from the President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and was invited to pay an official visit to Brussels in the near future. Earlier, the politician said that his first official visit will be made to Moscow, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon wrote that he had a meeting with the EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola on the diplomat’s initiative. “It was a constructive discussion. We exchanged opinions on the relations between Moldova and the Europeans Union and on the prospects of developing them. I proposed that we should have meetings in such a format at least once a month. I received with pleasure personal congratulations on my election as President from the European officials, Mister Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Mister Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission,” said the politician.
On December 16, Igor Dodon met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bridget Brink and U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau James Pettit. They discussed the bilateral relations between Moldova and the U.S. and cooperation prospects. “I voiced hope that with the election of the new U.S. President and administration, the relations between out states will get a new impetus,” wrote the President-elect.
