The case of expulsion of the seven Turkish teachers of the Lyceum “Orizont” revealed who and how much costs in this country. What happened to the Turkish teachers is a manifestation of the activity of the captured state. All the provisions of the national and international laws were violated two years ago and preparations were made in advance on the pretext that those teachers formed part of an Islamic network and could pose threats to society, expert Igor Boțan stated in IPN’s public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned”.
The standing expert of IPN’s project noted the ECHR judgment says the Moldovan authorities realized what they did and those operations were prepared beforehand in concert with the intelligence services of Turkey and Moldova. “Everyone remembers a TV channel reporting that the heads of children of Moldovan diplomats were cut. All those things were orchestrated. At the same time, the media in Turkey reported an extraordinary success of the intelligence services that performed an operation in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
According to him, many things are related to politics. “First of all, the visit paid by the coordination of the Moldovan government, Mister Vlad Plahotniuc, to Turkey in October 2017 and his meeting with Mister Erdogan. The promise to offer money and to repair the Presidential Building of Moldova. In a month of the expulsion of the Turkish teachers, the Turkish President paid a visit to the Republic of Moldova and he was met with great honors. President Erdogan also had a meeting with Vlad Plahotniuc during that visit,” explained Igor Boțan.
Other actions followed. For example, the Bureau for Migration and Asylum post-factum had to prepare documents to wash its hands of those events. The Ombudsman’s Office was the only state institution that had the courage to talk about that depravity.
Igor Boțan also made reference to the prosecutor’s response to the families of those expelled. This says there were taken no criminal measures against the seven in Moldova before their expulsion. This is a case not only of cowardice on the part of particular institutions and persons, but also of excess of zeal on the part of some of the media outlets in supporting this crime against citizens.
