If it will be confirmed that the Metallurgical Plant in Ribnitsa has resumed its activity, the authorities will force it to pay taxes. The information was confirmed by government spokesman Daniel Voda, IPN reports.
"If the information about the restart is confirmed, the prime minister and government officials have talked about imposing competition taxes, because we need to bring the companies on the left and right banks into a framework of fair competition," Daniel Voda said.
IPN wrote recently that the metallurgical plant in Ribnitsa will resume its rolling process and is already at the stage of preparation of the specialized hall. Water supply to the cooling systems is restored and the plant has 10 thousand tons of Krivoy Rog billet in stock. The plant's plan, at this initial stage, is to restart production during the night in order to reduce the overload on the power grid.
The work at the Ribnita metallurgical plant was halted after the energy crisis erupted following a decision by Russia's Gazprom to stop gas supplies to Moldova on January 1. With gas supplies to the Transnistrian region unstable, the further operation of the plant remains problematic.
