Hunting season opens Sept. 21

The hunting season for quails and aquatic birds is opened on September 21. As from September 24, pigeons and spotted doves can also be hunted. The chairman of the Administration Board of the Society of Hunters and Fishermen Oleg Ciocoi has told IPN that hunting is allowed on Saturdays, Sundays and on bank holidays, while for some of the species also on Wednesdays.

In October, hunting is allowed for pheasants, while in November for hares, foxes and jackals. Hunters need a hunter’s permit and a gun permit.

Hunting will be possible in open areas outside forests within the quotas approved for the 2022-2023 hunting season, in accordance with the decision taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations on September 15.

Shooting and staying with a loaded gun within 10 km from the state border with Ukraine, within 2 km from the peripheries of the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți and within 1 km from the outskirts of any other localities are banned.

It is also banned shooting and staying with a loaded gun within 5 km from military units, training centers of the National Army and strategic facilities, such as the Chisinau International Airport, the Mărculești International Airport, the Bălți International Airport and the Cahul International Airport.
