Hungarian company expected to deliver gas to Transnistrian region. Chisinau imposes conditions

Chisinau announced that it will not block gas supplies to the Transnistrian region on condition that a number of requirements are met.

The Hungarian company, MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG, paid by JNX General Trading L.L.C based in Dubai, will bring gas to the border with the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with the contract signed with Moldovagaz.

Tiraspol will pay in advance the transit costs for the gas transported from the border with the Republic of Moldova to the region, based on an agreement between Moldovagaz and Tiraspoltransgaz, said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

"We allow this transit, and Tiraspol will take particular actions to demonstrate its openness: the release of political prisoners, resolving of the problem of the high school in Rybnitsa, keeping of the Moldovan public television channel in the broadcast schedule, removal of the checkpoints set up in 2022 (33, of which 11 are still active)," noted the official.

Both companies were checked. "MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG is a natural gas trader operating on the European market. As for JNX General Trading L.L.C., no non-conformities were identified in terms of national and international legislation in its case. Likewise, no Moldovan citizens were identified behind the companies," said Premier Recean.

In this connection, the Commission for Emergency Situations is to convene on Monday to discuss the given topics.
