Humanist Party to join UCM for parliament’s race
The Humanist Party (PUM) will participate in the 2009 parliamentary elections jointly with the Centrist Union (UCM), led by former premier Vasile Tarlev, Info-Prim Neo reports.
5 members of the PUM leadership were invited to attend the UCM’s extraordinary congress on Saturday.
PUM’s president Ion Mereuta has told media the two parties have already signed a memo providing for going on a single list for the parliament, but the final decision PUM will make by the year-end.
According to Ion Mereuta, the party will comply with the Justice Ministry’s decision, which declined to register its name as the Christian-Humanist Party.
The PUM was founded in December 2005. Its goals are to promote Moldova’s territorial integrity, to build a humanist society and to integrate Moldova into the world’s and Europe’s values, etc.
Earlier, the Party Our House Moldova led by Chisinau councilor Oleg Onişcenco stated it will go on a single list with UCM for the parliament.
