The cleanup campaign launched by the General Housing and Amenities Division of Chisinau at the beginning of March came to an end. In the period, the workers intervened manually and with the assistance of special vehicles in yards of apartment building, in parks and squares. Other municipal subdivisions, business entities, public associations and volunteers also joined in the general spring cleanup, IPN reports.
According to the General Housing and Amenities Division, 350 to 400 employees of municipal housing sector managing enterprises and public amenities enterprises were daily involved in works to manually clean the public spaces and yards of apartment buildings, with about 65 workers being on duty on Sundays. The municipal enterprises were provided with the necessary units of transport for taking away the collected vegetal waste.
Simultaneously with manual cleanup works, the sidewalks and the main and secondary streets of the capital city were cleaned in a mechanized way with the assistance of Hako equipment and leaf aspirators attached to tractors. Works were executed in all the districts of Chisinau.
In Botanica district, the Byk River was cleaned in cooperation with the district head’s office. In concert with the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, the Urban Bus Company and other subdivisions, works were performed to clean Decembriștilor St, the park situated on Șoseaua Muncești st and the lake “Victoria”. Together with students of school no.3, trees were planted in “Sergei Lazo” Park. The lake and the park “Village Museum” were also cleared up in concert with students and teachers.
The cleanup works in Centru district covered the waste collection areas, basements, areas close to apartment buildings. Trucks daily transported away vegetal and household waste. A number of fences and temporary enclosures were taken away at the request of the district head’s office and the apartment building manager.
In Râșcani district, the waste dumps identified on a total area of over 1,800 square meters, on the streets Carierii, Circului, Ankara, Studenților and others, were liquidated. The Râșcani district head’s office also helped to liquidate the micro-waste dumps on Tudor Vladimirescu St, along Țiganca River. Similar activities were carried out in the forest-park on Calea Orheiului St and on Florilor St, between the streets Bogdan Voievod and Studenților.
In Ciocana district, there were organized 626 truck routes to take away the vegetal, building and household waste collected during the two-month spring cleanup. Also, socio-ecological activities to plant trees and bushes were carried out in all the districts in partnership with volunteers.
The General Housing and Amenities Division conducts cleanup campaigns for two times a year, in autumn and in spring.
