A delegation of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church will bring the Holy Fire to Moldova for the 14th time this year. The delegation led by Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir will go to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem on Holy Thursday. In a press release, the Moldovan Metropolitan Church says that all the costs will be covered by the Orthodox Church of Moldova. None of the politicians will finance the trip to Israel this year, IPN reports.
The delegation will consist of five clerics. “In the morning of Holy Thursday, these will travel to the old town at the Jerusalem Fortress, where the Holy Fire starts to burn at the Savior’s grave at about 2pm by tradition,” said the Moldovan Metropolitan Church’s secretary Vadim Cheibas.
In the evening of Holy Thursday, the Holy Fire will be brought to the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in Chisinau. This will be distributed to priests and parishioners, who will disseminate it all over the country.
Easter this year is celebrated on May 1.
