Holy Fire awaited in square of Metropolitan Cathedral at about 8pm

The Holy Fire will be brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem to the square of the Nativity Metropolitan Cathedral in central Chisinau at about 8pm on April 15. The delegation that left for Jerusalem will arrive at the Chisinau International Airport at 7:30pm.

The Holy Fire will be distributed by His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, to hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, to priests and all the faithful.

The Holy Fire this year is fetched by a delegation led by Bishop Ioan of Soroca, vicar of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church. Before leaving, Bishop Ioan al Soroca told IPN that a delegation of 60 people was leaving for Jerusalem, with a chartered flight, with each member of the pilgrim group covering the cost of the trip.

The Holy Fire is a miracle that occurs every year at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, the day preceding Easter. It is considered by many to be the longest-attested annual miracle in the Christian world, though the event has only been documented consecutively since 1106. In many Orthodox countries around the world the event is televised live.
