Hoisting of bicolor flags is illegal, PGO
The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) says the decisions to raise red-blue flags on the buildings of state institutions in the municipality of Balti and other settlements are illegal, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the PGO, during investigations it was established that these steps were taken by order of political parties. They are described as profanation of the State Flag of Moldova. The local prosecutor’s offices will challenge the illegal decisions on hoisting bicolor flags taken by the local public authorities.
The National Heraldic Commission said the red-blue flag with the coat of arms in the middle was not included in its register and the raising of such flags is thus illegal. It also said that the Communist Party, together with other political forces, used this bicolor flag at their recent meetings.
The Commission stresses that the use of this flag is a profanation of the national flag and an incitement to its abolition.
