History of Chisinau in pictures

The changing face of Chisinau during 100 years can be seen in photographs displayed at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I aimed to present the changing face of the city from 1911 until 2011. The exhibition is dedicated to the 575th anniversary of the foundation of Chisinau. I urge the inhabitants of Chisinau to love and admire the city,” said author of the exhibit, photographer Iurie Raileanu. “I see an alternation of what Chisinau municipality was and is for the first time. It is a good occasion to learn its history. The exhibition advises subtly to keep what we have,” journalist Victor Nichitus said in the opening of the event. Lucia Culev, head of the Chisinau Culture Division, said this exhibit is the first in a series of events dedicated to 575 years of the foundation of Chisinau. “The Chisinau City Hall supports the personalities with special destinies, who left a distinct page in the history of Chisinau,” she stated. The exhibit includes portraits of the aristocrats who lived in Chisinau until 1940. The event was staged with support from the Chisinau City Hall and the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova.
