Consumers are encouraged to call the toll-free number 080005000 to ask help with applying for energy compensation offered under the governmental program “Ajutor la Contor”. The helpline is open from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 and 20:00, but also on Saturdays, from 10:00 to 16:00.

Starting from November 1, household consumers can register on compensatii.gov.md to receive on-bill compensation for natural gas, heating, electricity and for solid fuels.

This year, eligible families whose main source of heating is wood or coal will also receive a monetary payment of 800 lei per month. The aid for the cold season has been integrated into the energy vulnerability information system. To benefit from this payment, beneficiaries need to fill out the application form online or at the social worker, indicating that the main source of heating is solid fuels.

In the bill, the compensations will be allocated for seven categories of energy vulnerability. This year, two new categories have been added: primary and extreme.

The authorities will have access to the information on the income of the persons held by the State Fiscal Service, the National Social Insurance House and other state institutions, as well as banking institutions, credit bureaus and other financial institutions, in order to ensure the correctness of the data.

When determining the degree of energy vulnerability, the degree of severe disability of the household members will also count. Also, the mortgage rate will be deducted from the income available to pay for energy and therefore more applicants will be able to benefit from a higher vulnerability category.

To receive compensation for November, consumers need to register before November 25. During the cold season, beneficiaries will have the opportunity to modify the application in two cases: to include newborns and to remove deceased persons from the application submitted in the system.
