Held for killing wife, man orders murder of stepchildren

The Chisinau Appeals Court sentenced two detainees from Leova to ten and, respectively, 15 years in jail for planning a murder by order. Earlier, the common law court acquitted the culprits, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to prosecutors, one of the detainees who served time in jail for killing his wife requested a cell mate to find a person who could kill his stepchildren, who were to inherit his wife’s property. He offered a recommence of US$10,000 for the killing.

The accomplice, who was held for blackmail and robbery, found a person whom he promised US$7,000 in recompense for the murder. The potential killer denounced the men to the police.

The decision can be challenged in the Supreme Court of Justice.
