The heating station of the Calarasi District Hospital was repaired and outfitted with a solar system for heating water. The works were performed during August – December 2017 at a cost of 8.3 million lei. The project was possible thanks to the support offered by the Government of Germany, IPN reports.
In the ceremony to put the renovated station into operation on March 1, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Liviu Volconovici said the use of solar energy is an important initiative for Moldova. “We need more such projects to be implemented in our country,” he stated.
“I’m very glad that through this project we could contribute to raising the standards in the field and, most important, to improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of Calarasi district,” Manfred Horr, director of the Department for Germany and Eastern Europe at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), said in the ceremony.
The services of the Calarasi District Hospital are annually used by almost 9,000 patients.
