The state of health of the National Army servicemen leaves much to be desired. Many of them suffer from tuberculosis, chronic hepatitis, urinary system disorders and even mental disorders, Deputy Prosecutor General Iurie Garaba said in the Government’s meeting, quoted by IPN.
Referring to an inquiry held by the Prosecutor General’s Office, Iurie Garaba said that 50 servicemen were discharged from the army on health grounds in 2011- 2013. Only a small part of the young people examined by the medical-military commissions over the last three years were allowed to do their military service. Last year, only 1,500 persons of the 8,300 summoned by these commissions were drafted into the army.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca requested paying increased attention to the health of conscript soldiers.
As many as 1,600 young people are to be called up in 2014.
