The persons out of work who didn’t purchase a health policy before 2015 will not have to pay the debts to the health insurance funds. However, the debts will be forgiven if the persons prove that they insured themselves medically this year. Parliament adopted a relevant bill proposed by the Party of Communist in two readings, IPN reports.

Oxana Domenti, one of the authors of bill, said there are many cases when particular categories of people without a job, especially the farmland owners, are unable to pay the debts to the health insurance funds.

The bill was adopted by 77 votes in favor. The Liberal MPs abstained.

The health insurance in Moldova is mandatory. Those who work pay the insurance premium in percentage form from the salary. The others are obliged to buy a health policy, if they do not form part of the categories of people who are medically insured by the state.
