Health Center for Students to be opened in Chisinau
Starting September 1, a Health Center for Students will be opened at the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of (MHSP) Chisinau municipality.
According to a press release of MHSP, the inauguration of the Center aims at optimizing the access to medical assistance of Chisinau’s students from higher education institutions, especially for the students coming from who do not have permanent residence in Chisinau.
Until September 15, students will be included in the lists of family doctors from the Center, on the basis of a personal request and of a letter from the higher education institution.
According to the head of the Health General Department of the MHSP, Liviu Vovc, “it is more difficult to register at a family doctor for the students coming to study to Chisinau and who do not have permanent residence in the city, because during the year they frequently change their temporary dwellings. In this way the inauguration of the Health Center for Students will improve the quality of medical assistance offered to them.
This center will ensure the access of students to medical assistance as settled by laws in force. In this way, primary and specialized medical assistance, including dental-care assistance, clinic services of high quality at the Clinic Hospital of the MHSP will be offered, according to the volume issued by the National Company of Medical Insurances. In some cases medical assistance for the students will be offered at other medical-sanitary public institutions.
The Center will have also the function of offering medical assistance to mothers and their children, providing student’s home medical assistance, issuing medical certificates, organizing prophylactic medical examinations in order to prevent risk factors and chronic diseases.
Statistics say that over 100 thousand students study in Chisinau city, of which 80 thousand are not residents of Chisinau.
