President Nicolae Timofti will not tolerate tensions and violations of the law by persons when protests, revolutions or other public events are staged. He declared this in the program “Moldova Live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, when asked about the ‘velvet revolution’ announced by the Communist Party, IPN reports.
“Until now, all the events that were staged by the opposition were within the law, with small deviations. I warn everyone that they must act within the law. They must not violate the rights of other people and everything should be done in a civilized way. Those who break the law will be held accountable. I do not want to scare anybody, but we are a country that can obey the law,” said Nicolae Timofti.
As to the public assembly that the Pro-European Coalition intends to mount on November 3, the head of state said he wasn’t invited to it and will decide whether to take part or not when she is asked to. “It is an event organized by parties. I’m not a party member,” he stated.
On November 3, the parties of the government coalition will stage a pro-Moldova demonstration to inform the people about the country’s European course.
