President Nicolae Timofti must take the situation in his hands, drive the parliamentary parties into a corner and set a time limit by which they should propose a candidate for premiership. This would be a solution to the political crisis that arouse after the dismissal of the Government, Pavel Postica, program director at Promo-LEX Association, said in the debate ”Culture of political crisis: views and roles of civil society organizations in the process of overcoming and communication with society”, organized by IPN.
Pavel Postica considers that if the parties are unable to constitute a parliamentary majority and overcome the crisis, they should face early legislative elections.
”We are aware that the distribution of seats in the future Government is the main problem. From my viewpoint, those who rule the country didn’t understand yet that they must be responsible for what they do. They must themselves believe in the argument that they invoke in the discussions with civil society. When they are criticized, they say that they were voted by society and represent the interests of society,” said Pavel Postica.
He also said that civil society wasn’t very tolerant towards the politicians, as some of the participants in the debate asserted. “I and the association I represent made recommendations and leveled criticism. We praised when there was the case. The politicians promised many things, but didn’t manage to do much. When they made promises, they probably didn’t anticipate the obstacles that can appear,” stated Pavel Postica.
In order to prove that civil society wasn’t tolerant of the current government, Pavel Postica compared the number of calls made by it during the Communist rule and during the rule of the AEI. “Much more calls were made now. We come and state our opinion, but it is they that must take a decision. Even if we launch a centralized call, things will not change as they don’t want to hear us,” he said.
