Harvest of grain, legume crops started 10 days earlier
The harvest of first-group grain and legume crops has started 10 days earlier than planned because of unfavourable weather conditions, said the leaders of the local administration during a teleconference called by Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev.
According to the information made public, so far there have been harvested approximately 36,000 hectares, and in the next few days, the harvest of grain crops is to begin massively in all the country’s districts.
The prime-minister requested the decision-makers to speed up the actions meant to ensure the harvest within 10-12 days from the launch of the campaign.
To secure a continuous and speedy harvest, the republican staff will monitor arrangements for setting up mobile teams of farm equipment in the districts where a unit of farm implement has to deal with a large acreage of grain fields.
Elevators, bakeries and consumer cooperatives have to conclude sale contracts with grain producers in due time, the prime-minister said. At the same time, decision-makers are to promptly determine the buying price of wheat for the State Reserve.
This year the Government plans to store in the State Grain Reserve 30,000 tonnes of wheat.
