As of April 1, the guaranteed minimum monthly salary in the real sector will be 3,500 lei a month or 20.71 lei an hour, calculated for a full working program of 169 hours a month on average. In 2021, this was 2,935 lei a month or 17.37 lei an hour. The Cabinet approved a bill to this effect on March 9, IPN reports.

The guaranteed minimum monthly salary in the real sector is approved for enterprises, organizations and institutions with financial autonomy, regardless of the type of ownership and legal form of organization. This is reexamined annually by the Government depending on the annual rise in the consumer price index and the annual growth rate of labor productivity.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița asked to take measures to also increase the guaranteed minimum in the real sector, which is now of 3,100 lei.
