Green energy solutions at MSU: Mediacor Center to be equipped with solar panels

Moldova’s first digital media production center, Mediacor, will be equipped with a solar photovoltaic system. With funding of approximately $150,000 from USAID, the project is set to be completed next year, positioning Moldova State University (MSU) at the forefront of green technology and innovation, IPN reports.

MSU states that equipping Mediacor with photovoltaic panels and adopting green energy is intended to reduce energy costs by generating 100% of its electricity needs. This project will contribute to operational savings of over 640,000 lei annually, enhancing Mediacor's autonomy and sustainability. The university highlighted that it stands as an example of best practices in sustainable energy and will showcase the benefits of renewable energy in Moldova.

The photovoltaic system installation project was approved today at the MSU Senate session. It is part of a broader initiative supported by the U.S. government, known as #MoldovaConnected.
