From being a country that used to fully depend on a single source of natural gas, Moldova has been able to diversify its supply sources and become a security provider in the region after piloting the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector and the Greece vertical gas corridor to underground warehouses in Ukraine. Moldova’s decision to advance in the European integration process was expressed by Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov, who participated in the trilateral meeting at the level of the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.

The meeting took place in Varna, Bulgaria, with the main topic being strengthening security and regional interconnection. In the final statement of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their determination to support the European accession ambitions of the Western Balkans, as well as of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, based on the fulfillment of the EU accession criteria and the “own merits” of the applicants in carrying out the necessary reforms.

Given the security challenges faced by Moldova and as a result of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the three countries decided to continue cooperation to provide adequate multidimensional support to our country, a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy said.
