Grain to be exempted from import duties
Several types of grains will be exempted from value added tax on import and sale, in order to ensure the supplies of the bakeries and animal husbandry sector. The Parliament adopted on Friday, July 20, a draft law on this issue, currently in the second reading stage, extending the list of types of grains which were not included in the first reading stage.
Thus, products including wheat and the mixture of wheat with rye, rye, barley, corn, mixtures of grains, will be tax exempt.
These changes will enter in effect after the publication of the “Monitorul Oficial” (Official Gazette of Moldova) and will apply till July 1, 2008.
